William Carlos Williams

I’ve always regarded William Carlos Williams, whose poems I’ve been reading since my teens, as one of the two great progenitors of what Donald Allen was to call the New American Poetry – the other, of course, being Ezra Pound.

This film, shot in 1995, features Williams’s son William Eric Williams, his publisher James Laughlin, his biographer Herbert Leibovitz & poets Kenneth Koch, Allen Ginsberg & Michael McClure.
