Here are three of well over a hundred pieces of music which I’ve recorded by the Kreutzer Quartet, many of which were performed at Wilton’s Music Hall in East London.
Martin Ellerby’s Epitaph VII, Memento [Terezin], featuring clarinettist Linda Merrick, was recorded at St John’s Church, Waterloo. Its title refers to the Theresienstadt concentration camp in the Czech Republic.
Jim Aitchison’s Shibboleth was a site-specific response to Doris Salcedo’s intervention at Tate Modern, a piece which took the form of a great fissure running across the floor of the Turbine Hall. Written for Peter Sheppard Skaerved, the composition requires the violinist to walk the full length of the piece as he plays. The recording here was made at the Priory Church of St Bartholomew, Smithfield.
Dag Wirén’s String Quartet No. 4, Op. 28 was recorded at Wilton’s Music Hall. All three pieces are presented in their entirety.
