Acrylic Variations
Mark Rowan-Hull is a British abstract painter whose work in recent years has explored the idea of synaesthetic correspondences between sound & colour, much of it taking the form of large paintings produced in real-time & in public (in locations which include Westminster Abbey & Liverpool Cathedral) stimulated by the work of Olivier Messiaen. In the film he paints eight canvases inspired by musical improvisations by cellist Neil Heyde, & oboist Christopher Redgate. The piece was completed in time for its installation at a recent one-man show at the St James’s gallery of Frost & Reed.
